Limpopo-Lipadi is proud to announce the winner of its inaugural annual photography competition. A substantial number of entries were received from shareholders that showcased some of the best our beautiful reserve has to offer.

The winning entry, shown above, is of a young leopard approaching Mogorosi waterhole in September and was taken by Magnus Hird from the UK. He had a number of sightings of this individual during his stay that month and described the new hide as an ideal place to capture great shots. He recalls that this leopard would often make an appearance in the moments around sunset in order to capitalise on opportunities to hunt the sand grouse, guineafowl and francolins arriving for a last drink before dark.

A number of other entries were also highly commended. Two shots from Evelyn Rupperti - one a fabulous snap of a tawny eagle taking flight and the other a pair of tortoises mating - not something you see everyday in the bush but something that the freedom we have on our reserve makes possible to stop and witness.

Woody Keesee also has a brace of images, both water-themed, firstly a hammerkop poised on the weir at River Camp looking for something to catch and the second one of our Limpopo crocodiles basking in the sun.

With 2012 shortly to be upon us your opportunity to start gathering entries for next year's competition will soon begin. Why not book your stay at Limpopo-Lipadi now?
