Hippos in River Camp

This may not be the greatest video of hippos ever shot - certainly the compact camera used limits the quality - but there aren't many places in the world where you can look up from reading a book on your sofa in a private unit and find a hippo eyeing you from the river only 20 metres away!

This individual treats this stretch of the Limpopo as its home and is often seen early in the morning, or at night as it grazes around the camp - take care when walking between units or sitting around your fire!

The clip was filmed from Unit 5 one afternoon in September just after the hippo had descended the bank of the island opposite after a sneaky grazing session on the lush riverside vegetation when it thought everyone was out on a game drive!
