Elephants visit Mac's Pan

The trail-cameras have once again brought us a stunning set of candid images from distant parts of the reserve. Towards the end of December one was sited at Mac's Pan and has captured a sequence of shots of elephants visiting the trough to drink, wash and socialise - and at some point give the camera a nudge so that the rest of the shots are at a jaunty angle!
The complete set can be seen in the TrailCam gallery for Mac's Pan and also depicts baboons and vultures bathing in the water.

Further trail-camera news has shown animals adapting quickly to the revamped Zanzibar Dam and making use of the more naturalised waterhole that has now replaced the old cattle trough (and been resited a little further from the road). Visitors have already included the wild dog pack! See more in the gallery and imagine what great bird photos will be possible there - the dead tree at the back of the water will make a great raptor perch. The site of the waterhole was chosen with this specifically in mind, as well as the direction of the sun at various times of the day.
